Their focus is to give quick emergency care in the field, often stabilizing the patient until they receive further care at a hospital. They are most commonly found implementing pre-hospital emergency care in ambulances, working alongside paramedics and basic emergency medical technicians.

A Paramedic constitutes a professional health care provider working amongst emergency medical situations. They offer advanced level of patient care in regards to medical emergencies and various trauma. Most work in emergency response vehicles, ambulances, as well as special units like a cycle response. Paramedics have more qualifications than Emergency Medical Technicians in general.
